Sergey Rozhnov

Sergey Rozhnov was born 1978 in Tver.  He graduated from the painting department of the Venezianov Art School. At the moment he is working through his 5th year of studies in the workshop of Prof. A.A. Mulnikov
at the Academy of Fine Arts.

To be accepted in Mulnikov’s monument workshop is very prestigious for an art students. It demands a great deal of knowledge and pre-formed skills to become one of his pupils.

But Sergey Rozhnov did not study at Mylnikov's workshop for the fame and glory, he studied for the important skills a young artist can acquire there.

As well as any student of the Academy of Fine Arts he explores different directions in painting, like still-life, portrait and landscape. He is very much interested in working "plein air". His palette is the most expressive when he  paints on location right then and there.

Sergeys works are popular among private collectors. He also has done some wall paintings/murals for fashionable apartments and restaurants.

He started his creative development from studying Dutch art with its naturalistic style and  its great sensitivity to realistic effects of lighting, color and mainly elaborate texture. After that he soon started on monumental paintings and then further onto interiors.

Sergey Rozhnov is the artist thinker. Very often he attracts attention to intellectual games.

He is interested in studying the origin of movement. Due to this interest he explores the artistic potential of golf. But for Sergey Rozhnov it is more than just a game – it is a key to the understanding of the western form of life.

The artist understand the western culture and tries to depict it from different angles in his works. One of the most interesting is “Peter the Great and Menschikov playing Chess”. In this work he tries to follow the dialogue between cultures in the form of a political game.
