Calvin Liang Biography

Calvin Liang was born in Canton, China and completed his art education at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. He moved to the United States in 1987 and began a successful career creating visual art for the animation industry, especially "SpongeBob Squarepants" for Nickelodeon Studio. Recent museum exhibitions include: "On Location In Malibu" at The Frederick Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University and the 93rd Annual Gold Medal Exhibition of the California Art Club at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. He is a Signature Member of the California Art Club where he garnered the First Award at the Bowers Museum in 2002. Liang is an Artist Member of Laguna Plein Air Painters and Oil Painters of America where he received the Award of Excellence in 2001

Calvin was also awarded "Best Of The Show" in The American Impressionist
Society's 4th Annual National Juried Exhibition 2002.

Calvin Liang is a young artist with a great future.
Formally trained at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts,
recognised as one of China's most prestigious academies.
In China Calvin applied his artistic skills to the theatrical industrywhere he designed and created sets for the Canton Opera Institute.
He moved to the United States in 1987.
He is an accomplished painter whose Plein-Air landscapes are dazzling with their vibrant use of
color and masterful brush strokes.
He is a member of the California Art Club,
Oil Painters of America and the Artists Guild of San Francisco.
